Now What?
First things first, we take amazing photos of you two love birds! If you are frazzled with excitement, here is a little guide to help you organize your first steps.
Where should we shoot?
There are tons of great spots near by, however none as special as the spot you had your first date, where they proposed to you, your wedding venue, or any other location that means something to you both. A sandbar, a coffee shop? We can even do some fun sessions doing some of your favorite activities- cooking together, painting, working out, whatever it is that makes you, YOU. But We're so awkward!
If I haven't heard this 20 times, I haven't heard it yet. Everyone feels so awkward in front of the camera. It's normal. The way I pose you is by not really posing you. I know that sounds scary but, hear me out. All I do is give subtle directions that will help bring out the fun, laughing, loving you. I'll prompt you to do certain little action that may feel awkward but will look super cute on camera!

Find a location that means something to you both.
This could be where they proposed or it could be where you had your first date. Or it could be in your home nice and cozy where you both like to relax together. It could be as glamorous or as laid back as you want because it is about you.
Pick an activity to do that you both enjoy doing.
Now, remembering to keep it PG (ha!), let me know what you both like to do in your free time. Is it hiking a local trail? Kayaking paddle boarding, bike rides around downtown? Do you both like to bake and cook at home will sipping wine? Or even hitting the town on a weekend and playing a round of pool?
What ever it is that makes your time together special, it's always a good idea to incorporate it into our session.
Bring your pets!
These are some of you first babies! Why shouldn't they be part of your session? Plus I'm a huge animal lover and don't mind being around animals. Anything from your dog, cat, pig, horse, goat, iguana, you name it! They make you happy and you'll see that in the images we take.
When you bring pets, don't forget the TREATS! Or a favorite chew toy to get their attention. I also advise bringing a friend along to help watch them for the shots we take without them.
Embrace Movement
Something that makes images fun and adds personality is movement. When we shoot, I give you prompts that get you moving around. As silly as they sound, they work. These prompts allow you to loosen up and get playful. You forget there's a camera around for a second and the real you comes out. And that's the ultimate goal. To capture you both as authentically as possible.
Lastly, just be yourselves!
I cannot stress this enough. If you really want images that show your personality than embrace the weird! Be weird and funny with it! I am not here to judge you. I am just as awkward and odd as the next person. I want to know the true you and I'm all for it!
Other Engagement Session Tips...
- I highly recommend getting your ring professionally cleaned before our session. This way there’s that extra sparkle when doing close up details of your ring.
- If we're at a beach, I may ask you if you want to jump in the water! If you're up for it, bring your bathing suit, a towel and a change of clothes.
- For those who will be wearing make up or having hair done on your wedding day, an engagement session is a perfect time to do a trial run. Seeing your make up on camera can help you make any changes before your wedding day.
- Engagement photos are great for invitations and Save-The-Dates! You can use your images we take to send out to guests. They're also great to have printed for Wedding Showers or Bachelor/ette Parties! If you need some, I offer prints and wedding cards.
- Schedule a date night after our session! You're already dress up and looking fancy, so capitalize on it and take it as an opportunity to have a date night!
